Flax Seed Crackers

 Ingredients

  • 1 cup flax seed meal

  • 2 Tablespoons flax seeds

  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings

  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 cup of water

 

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F

  • Combine the flax seeds, water, and salt in a bowl. If you're adding any optional seasonings, include them at this stage. Stir until well combined.

  • Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes. This will give the flax seeds time to absorb the water and swell.

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the mixture onto the sheet and spread it evenly using a spatula. Aim for a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

  • To create individual crackers, score the dough into squares or rectangles with a knife.

  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden and the crackers are firm.

  • Once baked, let them cool completely on the sheet before breaking them apart along the scored lines.
